Before this exterior podium renovation it was easy to drive by the LAX Hilton on Century Boulevard without noticing the simple 1980’s architecture and improvised lighting. The long porte cochere did not make much more of an impression, with downlights concentrated on the center drive aisle, ineffectual cove lights, and dated decorative fixtures. The perimeter sidewalks were mostly unlit and uninviting. The Hotel Owners originally envisioned a modest relighting of the space that worked with the existing architectural features, but as we developed the design it was decided that nothing but a complete renovation would create the desired impact. An architect was recruited and the transformation began in earnest.
